Okay,YES! Zinc can help very much! Not sure about crushing it up n applying to face but in other ways though.I would guess it would be fine..I did that with Vitamin E capsules and that happened to help ( a bit). Zinc is much more stronger so go ahead and try it...b4 u go to bed, do such...I am not reliable if anything happens...I am clearly just suggesting...not forcing,

More ways to help Problemes/
I've been zinc tablets and now, after like a month or so...my skin is SOOO much better! Not even kidding. My acne/rosacea (some people mix acne and rosacea so bad... both common diseases.I can tell I have both by details of both...google if u need those details of knowing which one(s) u need).Though zinc is the most powerful thing to help skin conditions..you cannot rely on Zinc alone! NO no no. You also need a awesome diet for your skin problem(Google foods good for skin..including low calorie food...and spices.Since both calories and spices cause heat in the body..they will increase redness.).As well as proper sleep schedule (8-9 hrs a day...make sure you go to bed and wake up at the same time ever night and morning). You also have to detox your body...by yoga, saunas and food (ect). Lay off all of the bad foods...like processed food, artificial flavoring, artificial preservatives, high fructose corn syrup, artificial sugar and bad carbs. So, less McDonalds and t.v. trays (well at least, not as much). No more soda either (absolutely the worst thing to drink as well as alchoal). Lay off the candies too,try other sweet items like mangoes and strawberries. Hope you take this advice...it worked for me-hope it does for you.
P.s. dont believe skin docs n proactive/nuetrangena/ect...they want ur money...not ur face to be better. They help killing acne but by killing ur skin...which makes acne n such worse over time...try natural cleansers.
References :
Literally hundreds of hours reading and months of experiments.

Zinc: another powerful antioxidant which helps protect the immune system can defend from allergies, colds and viruses. Improving your health overall can lead to clear skin and fewer breakouts: just add more nuts, whole grains and eggs to your diet for an ample supply of zinc.
References :
http://www.globalreviews.info/
