HELP! anyone who has used zinc pills for acne!?

Posted under zinc acne by Dan Johnson on Tuesday 31 March 2009

i've had acne for a long time and tried soo many things. nothing the derm gave me works…so now i'm trying natural stuff. i've read a lot of good reviews online from people who used zinc to clear their acne and i want to give it a try. but what i wanted to know is…
    1) what kind of zinc pills should i take? (i heard chelated, but idk)
    2) how much do i take a day?
    3) is it ok to take wirth birth control pills? (i'm on it for my acne as well as for regulation)

anyone who has used zinc, PLEASE give me advice on what to do….

also, what vitamins could i take that might help my skin?

    Multiple points:

    1. Take a multiple vitamin with minerals every day. Vitamin A supplemental (25,000 IU) per day may help as well.
    2. Topical Zinc is an astringent, and will help dry acne. It is white and obvious: use it only at night.
    3. Birth control pills help pubescent acne sometimes.
    4. Oral zinc is proven to speed wound healing — one tablet per day should be adequate.

Keep your face cleansed with Dove or another mild soap: never 'rub' your face dry: dab it dry.

How do I use acne treatment (Clean and Clear)?

Posted under back acne treatment by Dan Johnson on Tuesday 31 March 2009

I recently bought the 3-in-1 Clean and Clear set and I don’t know how to use it. The set includes the continuous control cleanser, oil-free moisturizer and the acne spot treatment. I don’t know how to use the creams or if I use them together or separately. I have pretty bad acne and I really want to get rid of it. Somebody please help me.

What the skin needs is a product that clears pores and kills bacteria, thus preventing hair follicles from clogging and turning into acne. This is what you should be looking for if you want to get rid of those ugly acne.

Before trying any treatment, I suggest you read this informational source that listed the most effective acne treatments available:

What comes first, moisturizer or pimple spot treatment?

Posted under pimple treatment by Dan Johnson on Tuesday 31 March 2009

I use a toner then i use clean and clear on the spot acne control and lotion … i just dont know which one goes on first.

spot treatment because moisturizer can sometimes clog pores. this helps the acne from being less irritated if you put the spot treatment on first.

Posted under acne soap by Dan Johnson on Tuesday 31 March 2009

    i've always used regular soap
and i have chest and cak and face acne and some random little red dot on my tummy..lol
    but i always scrub there
and proactiv and differin dont seem to work as well
so i started using hypoallergenic soao when i started using differin again but this time it is making more of a difference
do u tink i have soap allergies and this is wha is causing it?

I would suggest for you to buy a papaya soap. I've been recommeding it to quite a few people here who have acne problem. If you're really willing to try, and I suggest you do, you will see what a miracle it is. Buy a good papaya soap with a high content of papaya and lather it on damp/wet skin. Leave on for a few minutes and wash off. You can also use it for the rest of your body. It can also be used on the face for acne and blemishes. It will get rid of your problem 100% guaranteed. I've recommend papaya soap to people with acne or blemishes on their back and these girls are embarrassed to wear tank or tube tops coz it'll expose their blemished backs. After they've tried using papaya soaps, their condition clears up and they have pimple free clear backs!

All About the Ringworm Symptoms and Treatment

Posted under pimple treatment by Dan Johnson on Tuesday 31 March 2009

Ringworm is a common infection of the skin that can be found both at humans and animals, especially cats, which are the most common ringworm carriers.

Although its name suggests that it is caused by a worm, in fact it is caused by a fungus. This fungus grows on the skin and feeds with the dead skin and hair cells there. The areas of skin that are infected with ringworm are usually round, and they have a red color at their edges, but in their center the skin looks almost normal. The red areas are shaped like a ring and they are also swollen because the fungus irritates the skin, so the place looks like a red round worm. This is where the name ringworm comes from.

The symptoms of ringworm can be seen on the skin surface. A doctor can diagnose ringworm just by taking a look at the infected areas. In some cases a more thorough analysis needs to be made to determine the nature of the fungus, so the doctor may take a small sample of skin tissue from the places where the fungus grows.

In the beginning ringworm looks like a small pimple or mosquito bite. Then it starts to grow as the fungus begins to evolve and spread. If hair grows in the area then the infected place will lose it, so red bald patches of skin will appear. Some patients also have a yellow crust over the infection.

As ringworm progresses the areas get bigger and they begin to be shaped like a ring. The skin in those areas in always itchy and soon more red patches will appear if it is not treated.

Depending on where the symptoms appears ringworm is called ringworm of the scalp, ringworm of the groin, or athlete’s foot if it appears on the feet.

The treatment for ringworm is easy, especially if the doctors discover it early.

If there are only a few places with the fungus on them then the doctor will prescribe you an antifungal cream. These ointments can be purchased without a prescription but it’s best to ask the doctor before deciding to use one. The cream must be applied directly on the infected skin for as long as it takes to for ringworm to go away and some time afterwards to make sure all the fungus cells are dead.

However if ringworm has spread to too any areas then antifungal pills are required to cure it. They are usually taken once a day and they are pretty strong so the effect should be seen in a few days.

IT’s easy to cure ringworm, but first you must recognize it from its symptoms and go to a doctor for an accurate diagnosis as soon as you see any signs of it. If you want to prevent it, always wash and clean yourself and avoid using items that are regularly used by many people.

How to Take Care of a Rosacea Skin?

Posted under exposed acne treatment by Dan Johnson on Tuesday 31 March 2009

Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory disease, which is also known as rosacea acne. It mostly affects middle aged people. Signs of rosacea are facial redness, visible damaged blood vessels on the nose and cheeks, bumps and pimples.

Most of the affected persons declare that they only use water to cleanse their face skin and that they are afraid of using any cosmetic products or make-up because they think their disease will get worse.

Rosacea gives people a highly sensitive skin that is why when cleansing the skin we should not use the daily soaps, we should buy a cleanser that does not contain soap, oil and any fragrance. This cleanser will act gently upon the skin and will not influence its natural Ph balance. After using the cleanser, the face will be rinsed with plenty of water and blot with a soft towel in order not to irritate your skin.

The treatment given by the doctor should be followed strictly, and after applying the indicated medication, you should wait until it dries and then apply moisturizer, makeup or sunscreen. Sunscreen is benefic for you because the sun might damage even more your sensitive skin. It is recommended to apply on all your sun exposed parts of the body a moisturizer with a sunscreen, minimum of SPF15 even winter, not only in summer.

Taking care of the skin must be done twice a day: in the morning and before bedtime, so that all the dust and dirt will be removed from the face and the skin will be able to regenerate.

Because the skin affected of rosacea is very dry, you should avoid using brushes or rough towels to rub your face skin. Also, drink a lot of water and when going out in the cold cover your cheeks and nose with a scarf. When washing your face you should use lukewarm water instead of hot water, and avoid using astringent cleansers and after shaves or other cleansers that contain the following substances: salicylic acid, menthol, eucalyptus oil, because they will only over-dry your skin.

The clothes that is most suitable for you must be made out of cotton, silk, and natural fibers because they do not cause so much irritation when getting into contact with your face skin.

You can use make up, but the products must be light and oil-free. Using make-up is only for hiding the redness of the skin caused by rosacea, and does not substitute the treatment indicated by the doctor.

Save Your Money - Cheap Natural Dry Skin Care Tips

Posted under blackhead treatment by Dan Johnson on Tuesday 31 March 2009

Xeroderma literally means “dry skin”. Xeroderma is a very common condition. As we age, our skin produces less of the natural oil that helps it retain its moisture.

Skin consists of loose connective tissue and elastin. Skin also receives less blood flow and lower gland activity. The average square inch of skin holds 650 sweat glands, 20 blood vessels, 60,000 melanocytes, and more than a thousand nerve endings.

The epidermis can be further subdivided into the following strata (beginning with the outermost layer): corneum, lucidum (only in feet), granulosum, spinosum, and basale. The dermis is the layer of skin beneath the epidermis that consists of connective tissue and cushions the body from stress and strain.

The dermis is structurally divided into two areas: a superficial area adjacent to the epidermis, called the papillary region, and a deep thicker area known as the reticular region.

Certain drugs, including diuretics, antispasmodics, and antihistamines, can contribute to dry skin. Dry skin could be due to a genetic condition. The skin loses moisture and may crack and peel, or become irritated and inflamed. Symptoms most associated with Xeroderma are scaling (the visible peeling of the outer skin layer), itching, and cracks in the skin.

The use of natural or synthetic cosmetics to treat the appearance of the face and condition of the skin (such as pore control and blackhead cleansing) is common among many cultures. For any skin condition, it’s always better to take a natural approach. Natural treatment should always be the first type of treatment to consider when you want to take the best care of your skin.

Eat high-fiber snacks like raw nuts, raw seeds, and dried fruit, such as dates, and figs. You want to work from the inside out too. Drink plenty of water, a minimum of a quart a day. Put 2 tablespoons of coconut oil in your smoothies. Eat foods that contain essential fatty acids.

It just takes motivation, a willingness to try it, and diligent application of coconut oil several times daily and at bedtime to see its benefits. Also use a thin layer of coconut oil under your make-up to moisturize your skin all day. Use coconut oil to remove your make-up at night, like I do; it leaves a fine layer of oil to nourish your skin all night long. Apply coconut oil to heal and soothe your skin.

Dry skin can be converted into healthy skin using natural home remedies. The skin supports its own ecosystems of microorganisms, including yeasts and bacteria, which cannot be removed by any amount of cleaning. The skin must be regularly cleaned or it’ll become cracked or inflamed.

If nothing seems to work it might be more than dry skin, so you should see the doctor. Make sure to call your dermatologist when you have any open cuts or sores from scratching that won’t heal. It’s time to call the doctor when all your home remedies do not relieve your dryness and itching.

Over Night Acne Patches And Other Unique Acne Treatments

Posted under acne vitamins by Dan Johnson on Tuesday 31 March 2009

Acne is a skin condition in which lesions form on the skin. The cause of the lesions is the blockage of follicle duct of sebaceous glands. The sebum gets trapped and inflammation occurs in the skin. This inflammation gets infected by a bacterium P.Acnes found naturally in skin. There are various acne therapy available.

Overnight acne patches contain medicines like Benzoyl peroxide, triclosan, chlorhexidine gluconate, salicylic acid, glycolic acid, erythromycin, clindamycin, tetracycline, tretinoin, adapaline, retinol, isotretinoin etc. These medicines have different effect. Anti bacterials like benzoyl proxide kill bacteria thereby reducing acne in bacterial acne therapy. Skin defoliants like salicylic acid peel skin on a micro level to open the pores in skin exfoliation acne therapy. Antibiotics like erythromycin kill bacteria by antibiotic action in antibiotic acne therapy. Retinoids like tretinoin reduce acne by regulating the life cycle of follicle cells in retinoidal acne therapy.

The overnight acne patches are to be applied on the affected area before going to sleep. Cleaning the area with acne cleanser and soft moisturizer before applying overnight acne patches will help a lot. In the morning the patches may be removed and discarded.

Other unique treatments include phototherapy. In phototherapy the affected area is irradiated with a particular wavelength of light. The irradiation kills the bacteria by producing free radicals in porphyrins of the bacteria. Applying delta-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) to the affected area increases the effectiveness of phototherapy. The effectiveness of phototherapy is about 75% almost as effective as benzoyl peroxide. There are no side effects in phototherapy. The medicines listed here are to be taken only after consultation with a doctor.

There are other alternative acne remedies like azelaic acid, zinc, sulfur, chromium and insulin available. However the studies on these are still continuing and the effectiveness or their working mechanism is not known.

Most acne treatment is given in conjunction with food supplements like acuzine, as acuzine helps in early recovery of the skin. Acuzine has beneficial ingredients, vital vitamins and chemicals needed for the acne treatment to be successful.
